Designed for both children and adults, fixed braces offer a robust solution to correct severe misalignments and achieve a straighter smile.

For those seeking for a more discreet teeth straightening option, invisible braces, including brands like Angel Aligner and Invisalign clear aligners, provide an excellent alternative.
These removable braces are virtually invisible, allowing patients of all ages to undergo orthodontic treatment without the aesthetic concerns associated with traditional braces.

At Cambridge Orthodontic Practice, you have the option to embark on your orthodontic journey with a free consultation.
During this initial consultation, we will introduce you to various treatment options and orthodontic appliances. There will be no clinical examinations or fees involved in this session, and you will not receive a personalised treatment plan or report.
However, you will gain valuable insights into the costs and payment plans for different orthodontic systems. Led by a senior treatment coordinator, this consultation is designed to provide a broad overview of the treatments that we offer. Our aim is to inform you about your options, rather than to commit you to a specific course of treatment.
-
This service is designed for individuals who need personalized orthodontic evaluation and treatment planning. The consultation fee is set at £100 for adults and £50 for children who are under the age of 18.
In this session, patients will be seen by a team consisting of an orthodontist specialist, a senior treatment coordinator, and a nurse. This ensures that a thorough and multidisciplinary approach is taken towards patient care.

Frequently asked questions
Orthodontist vs Dentist
Whether addressing functional issues or seeking aesthetic improvements, orthodontic care plays a pivotal role in enhancing one's quality of life through improved oral health. Making the right decision is crucial.
-
The necessity to remove teeth for braces depends on the individual's specific dental condition and the goals of the treatment. In some cases, tooth extraction might be necessary to make room for other teeth to move into place, especially if there's significant overcrowding, or to correct a severe bite issue.
However, with advances in orthodontic techniques and technology, extractions are becoming less common. Orthodontists strive to achieve the desired results with minimal interventions.
At Cambridge Orthodontic Practice, our specialist orthodontists will assess your unique situation during the initial consultation and recommend the best treatment plan tailored to your needs, possibly avoiding extractions whenever feasible.
-
Clear aligners and traditional braces each have their advantages and are better suited to different types of orthodontic needs and lifestyle preferences. Clear aligners, such as Invisalign, offer a practically invisible and removable option, making them a popular choice for adults and teens concerned about the aesthetic impact of traditional braces. They can be more comfortable and make it easier to maintain oral hygiene.
However, traditional braces might be more effective for correcting complex dental issues. The choice between clear aligners and braces should be made after consulting with an orthodontist who can advise on the most appropriate option based on the specific orthodontic requirements and desired outcomes.
-
The waiting time for orthodontic treatment in the UK can vary significantly depending on several factors, including the region, whether the treatment is sought through the NHS or privately, and the current demand for orthodontic services.
For NHS patients, especially children and teenagers, waiting times can be lengthy, sometimes extending to months or even years. However, at Cambridge Orthodontic Practice, private patients can start their treatment with little to no waiting time, offering a swift pathway to beginning their orthodontic journey.
-
There is no upper age limit for braces. Orthodontic treatment can be successful at any age, as long as the individual has healthy teeth and gums.
Adults of all ages are seeking orthodontic treatment more frequently than ever before, recognising the benefits of correcting dental issues and achieving a healthier, more attractive smile.
The primary consideration for orthodontic treatment is not age but rather the health and condition of the patient's teeth and gums.
-
The cost of an orthodontic consultation and subsequent treatment can vary widely depending on the practice, the complexity of the case, and the type of treatment plan chosen. Private consultations may range from being free, as is the case with Cambridge Orthodontic Practice, to costing upwards of £100.
The cost of the treatment itself can vary significantly, with traditional metal braces and clear aligners like Invisalign ranging from a few thousand pounds to more for comprehensive treatment plans. It's best to discuss the anticipated costs directly with the orthodontic practice during the initial consultation.
-
In the UK, the NHS does provide free orthodontic treatment for under-18s who need it for health reasons, subject to specific eligibility criteria based on the dental health need, which is assessed through the Index of Orthodontic Treatment Need (IOTN).
However, not all orthodontic cases qualify for NHS treatment; it is generally reserved for moderate to severe cases. Adults are not eligible for orthodontic treatment on the NHS and must seek treatment privately.
At Cambridge Orthodontic Practice, we offer both NHS treatment for eligible patients and a range of private treatment options to meet every need and budget.
